Our aim with the MIA2K podcast from the outset has been to mix in cultural elements with the current events, so we’ve prepared a fun episode that intertwines some very present terminology in such a fun way you won’t even notice! The only problem is, we got a liiiiiittle carried away talking about our biases – it’s probably our absolute favorite topic to cover – so we split it into two episodes.

Seriously, we’re not being dramatic, you can know a LOT about a person once you know who they bias in a group, and for us humble multi-stans giving you all the tea on our multiple biases and bias wreckers across the board… you’re not ready for this! 

Also, if you don’t know what a bias is and want to just get a tiny taste of some KPop idol terminology, this episode has some 101 vibes with just a few basic Korean vocab words to get you started. 

Let’s start with the foundation to you enjoying this ep. What’s a:

• Bias? Your favorite member in a group. Do you remember the days of Backstreet Boys and N*Sync? Who was your favorite? That’s your bias. Used in a sentence: “my BSB bias is Brian.”
• Bias wrecker? Your top is your top, but sometimes there’s a member who *almost* makes you look away from your main bae for a few moments? He wrecked your bias. Hence, bias-wrecker. Used in a sentence: “my BSB bias is Brian, but Kevin wrecks me on a regular basis.”
• Multi-stans? We all have BIG hearts with LOTS of capacity to love many different groups. There are a lot of talented groups out there working so hard for our attention, and who are we to say no? For example, some of the groups we like include BTS, Stray Kids, Itzy, GOT7, Astro, Seventeen, Mamamoo, Ateez, etc. For Laura and Kathy, the true seal of approval of considering ourselves part of a fandom is whether we’re willing to spend money on them. And we’re willing to spend money on all of these groups, and more.
• Ult? The ultimate top favorite. Even though our big roomy hearts have allocated budgets for all the groups we like, there’s one ultimate who reigns supreme and that if needed can get ALL our coin and we’d be ok with seeing them and only them. You can have an ultimate group, and you can have an ultimate bias too (but you don’t have to!).
