Today we’re coming at you with a very random topic, but we’ve had a few convos with some friends and followers about different parts of our podcasting journey, and so we wanted to share more widely in case anyone else is interested. So without further ado, let’s dive into why we started MIA2K, and the tools we use in our day-to-day operations!
| Podcasting 101, as told by ChatGPT |
We asked ChatGPT what it takes to run a successful podcast, and we took the points it gave us and expanded on them during the episode if they were relevant to us.
Running a podcast involves:
**Content Creation:** Brainstorming, researching, and scripting episodes to ensure high-quality content.
- Podcast
- Social media
**Recording:** Investing in quality microphones and sound equipment. Dealing with technical issues and retakes.
**Editing:** Time-consuming post-production work, removing mistakes, adding music/effects, and ensuring clear audio.
**Guest Management:** Inviting, scheduling, and interviewing guests. Handling cancellations or no-shows.
**Consistency:** Committing to a regular release schedule, whether weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
**Marketing:** Promoting episodes on social media, seeking collaborations, and engaging with listeners.
**Monetization:** Seeking sponsors, running ads, or setting up listener-supported platforms like Patreon.
**Feedback Loop:** Receiving and responding to feedback, reviews, and criticism.
**Continuous Learning:** Keeping up with the latest podcasting trends, tools, and techniques.
**Time Commitment:** Often more time-consuming than anticipated, especially in the initial stages.
**Community Building:** Engaging with listeners and growing a loyal audience base.
**Technical Skills:** Learning how to use recording software, platforms, and hosting services.
It’s a rewarding endeavor but requires dedication, patience, and continuous effort.
