Here at MIA2K Podcast both co-hosts are big enjoyers of fun and savory drinks at events. So, in 2023 when we were gearing up for our K-Pop Rumba Bus event, we wanted to provide a custom drink that could get the party started. Our only two requirements were:
- It must taste good
- It must contain a Korean spirit
Kathy is not a fan of straight liquor shots, so whenever she’s in a situation where a round of shots is being ordered, she has a go-to: Lemon Drop shots. As a vodka girlie, this ensures that she keeps from mixing and stays within the lane of the spirit of choice for the night, but she can also partake in the shot with the group.
So we thought… what about making lemon drops but with Soju as the base spirit instead of vodka?!
And it WORKED!
After some fine-tuning, we’re proud to present MIA2K Podcast’s infamous “Lemona Drop” Shots! The recipe calls for the following ingredients:
- 1 part Soju
- 1 part Simple syrup
- 7/8 part pure Lemon juice
P.S. The typical recipe for a vodka-based Lemon Drop shot calls for equal parts of all 3 ingredients, but because Soju is less of an aggressive flavor as compared to vodka, we figured adding slightly less lemon juice was appropriate for the Soju-based Lemona Drop. Don’t be afraid to taste and adjust to fit your preferences!
Directions:
1. Pour soju, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a container (shaker if you have one!).
2. Add ice and mix/shake.
3. Pour into shot glasses and serve.
Cheers!

If you want our recommendation on specific products, these are our go-to picks for this recipe:
If you buy 1 of each bottle, you will get about 20 shots total. You can also serve it as a full cocktail drink if you have some triple sec in hand, and that will yield about 3-4 servings, depending on how generously you pour and which type of glass you use.
