FAQ
Why is MIA2K organizing this event?
- We’ve hosted 2 events, our first one in 2022 (Daebak K-Pop Meet-up) and our second one in 2023 (K-Pop Rumba Bus) so we wanted to keep the tradition going for 2024!
What is the plan this time?
- We have planned a 6-hour boat rental. The day will have plenty of photo ops and an amazing view of the Miami skyline.
- Light lunch will be provided once the boat is anchored.
- Please note: the age limit for this event is 21+ since alcoholic drinks will be available to all boat passengers. We will be checking IDs prior to boarding.
Why a boat bash?
- We wanted to take our 2024 event to the next level [::cue aespa::]. Ever since the K-Pop Rumba Bus last year, Miami’s popularity has surged and as a result, so have the prices for everything. Miami’s K-Pop scene has also gained momentum and there are many events available to the community on a monthly basis. So we said, let’s make our event unique and worth the ticket price!
- Kathy is a mermaid and Laura loves the water so it just made sense to plan a boat day! And well, Miami is the perfect place to do this!
What’s the price for the event and what does it include?
- The ticket price is $175 and it includes:
-
- 6 hour boat rental
- Admission to the boat
- Drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- Food and snacks (think finger foods) **If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know beforehand so we can try to accommodate your needs. Thank you!**

What’s your experience planning events?
- Kathy went to school for Hospitality & Tourism Management and graduated with a specialization in Event Management, and planned weddings and social events for years until a different opportunity came along to explore her true passion, which is writing. But event planning is like riding a bike: you never forget!
- Laura is a construction scheduler, so her literal day to day job is planning, planning, and more planning. She also really enjoys coordinating activities/trips, and Excel sheets are her jam. Fun fact: she was one of the many brides who had a wedding scheduled during the pandemic, and due to venue restrictions she had to pivot and basically plan a completely new wedding from scratch. That experience alone made her a connoisseur of the South Florida events circle.
- GENERAL QUESTIONS
What should I bring?
- A FORM OF ID – WE NEED TO CHECK YOUR NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH
- We will have drinks, food, and snacks available, however, if there is anything you specifically like don’t be afraid to bring it on the boat!
- Plan your outfit and bag as if you are going to the pool or beach. We recommend you to bring a bathing suit, sunscreen, sunnies, a hat, a towel, a change of clothes, etc.
- Don’t be too shy to bring your rashguard. Laura is known to wear them and recommends them to everyone!
- A positive and open mind! We are all friendly and love to make new friends!
- Please do keep in mind that space on the boat is limited so don’t bring any huge items that can take up too much space on the boat.
- What happens in the event of rain?
- The event is rain or shine. Miami weather is unpredictable, so the activity will not be canceled due to a rainy weather report. Please know that in our experience the rain passes by fairly quickly.
- We will reschedule in case of a Hurricane or any other named weather event.
- Can I bring my lightstick?
- 100% you can! However, be mindful that we are not responsible for any lost or broken items that you decide to carry on the boat with you. Bring at your own risk!
- Do I need to know how to swim in order to participate?
- You don’t need to know how to swim to join us! You don’t have to go in the water at all during the trip if you don’t want to or feel comfortable doing so.
- If you decide to swim, you are doing so at your own risk and we will assume you know how to swim.
- A lifejacket can be provided upon request if you want to wear it for the length of the event.
- How many tickets can I buy?
- You can buy up to 2 tickets per email. Let us know in the ticket and waiver form. Note, EVERYONE MUST FILL OUT A TICKET AND WAIVER FORM.
- What if I can’t make it anymore? Can I get my money back?
- You have until JUNE 20TH to cancel for a full refund.
- There will be no refunds for any cancellation AFTER JUNE 20TH. We need to pay for the boat rental in advance so if you cancel past our deadline, we will have already paid for your space.
- I can’t make it anymore, but I have a friend that can. Can I transfer my ticket?
- Yes, you can. However, the person replacing you MUST be 21+ and fill out our ticket/waiver form. If this is the case, please let us know beforehand so we can make the switch.
- I really want to go but I dont have anyone to go with.
- Don’t let this stop you! Everyone that has ever participated in our events has been welcoming and kind. We are sure you’ll make some new connections if you decide to join us solo!
- SAFETY QUESTIONS
- Are you guys driving the boat?
- Not at all! An experienced captain will be driving the boat. This way we can rest assured we are in good hands and we can also enjoy the day out in the water.
- Who’s in charge when we are out of the water?
- The captain is in charge. By participating, you agree to follow all the rules set forth by the captain of the boat and MIA2K (Kathy and Laura).
- Will you be checking IDs prior to boarding?
- Yes. We will ID everyone as they arrive at the marina. You will not be able to board the boat if you are not 21 or older.
- You will NOT get a refund if you buy a ticket and you are under 21 as we have explicitly said that this is a 21+ event.
- WHAT TO EXPECT
- We suggest you don’t plan anything soon after our expected return time as we cannot be certain of the exact time we will be back at the marina. The horrible Miami traffic extends to the waterways too!
- Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to sail time. We will leave you behind if you aren’t at the marina on time. It is not fair to everyone involved to lose time on the boat because one person didn’t plan accordingly.
- You will most likely have to be barefoot during the duration of the trip as shoes aren’t allowed on board since they can easily scuff the boat deck.
- We suggest carpooling as much as possible, as parking can be limited.
- Tentative itinerary: We will check everyone in and wait until the captain gives us the OK to board the boat. Once we board the boat, we will make our way to the ocean. We will then cruise along the Miami shore for some photo ops. We will then anchor in a safe and calm area to enjoy the rest of the time in the water. Please note that all plans are subject to change.
